Beware of Catalytic Converter Thieves

I had mine stolen over a week ago in Duluth/Berkeley Lake area. My Honda CRV was parked outside of my apartment in the middle of night. When I woke up to go to work early in the morning I noticed a loud noise when I started my car but attempted to drive to work, once I got down Peachtree Industrial Blvd the noise got so bad I stopped at the nearest gas station on abbots bridge rd and called my roadside assistances. After getting my car towed to the Gwinnett Honda Dealership, the service center advised me the catalytic converter had been stolen off my car. I was completely shocked, and angered by this violation. The cost was $2600 and my insurance cover it but I still had to pay my $500.00 deductible. I didn't notify the police because I never heard of this happening and I didn’t  even know if they would be able to do anything. When I got home from work I found cut pieces of coils, screws, nuts and bolts that were leftover after the converter was taken off my car still in my parking space. Now that I know this a serious crime and problem plaguing our area I'm going to police tomorrow to notify them. Please be aware and careful and report these issues to the police!!!
