The Ballybeg Band is a group of four musicians who
absolutely love sharing the joy and passion of Celtic music. Over the last 6
years, the band has appeared throughout the Southeast in venues ranging from
Irish pubs to Celtic and folk festivals and, of course, the Savannah St.
Patrick’s Day parade. Their music ranges from the beautiful haunting melodies
of the Scottish highlands to burn the house down Irish jigs and reels. Comprised of Seamus Dunning, pipes and whistles,
Lauren McDonough on fiddle, guitarist Ken Shearer and Owen Devine on percussion,
the Ballyebegers are not only top notch Celtic instrumentalists but also wonderful
singers who present a range of vocal selections spanning the Celtic experience
from acapella traditional ballads to rousing descriptions of love, rebellion
and, of course, the occasional dram of whiskey. The word Ballybeg refers to a
small Irish village and the band prides itself on making every audience they
perform for feel like honored guests at a Saturday night village ceili (an Irish
dance party). So, grab the family and come out and see The Ballybeg Band but,
be warned, bring your dancing shoes because you will not be able to resist
joining in the singing, dancing and fun.
