About Scott

Early Years

Born in White Plains, NY on January 7, 1982, to parents Robert and Debra, Scott has had a wide array of experiences through his life. He moved to Randolph, NJ in 1983 and remained there until 1993, when his father was named the Director of Sales & Marketing for confectionary maker Warner-Lambert’s Tokyo Office. Scott spent nearly three years in Tokyo, Japan, attending the American School in Japan and gaining a wide variety of insight into vastly different cultures and ideas. Scott returned to NJ in 1995 and remained there until 2000.

College

In 2000, Scott moved to Winston-Salem, NC, where he attended prestigious Wake Forest University. It was there were Scott decided he wanted to pursue a career in sports after being influenced by longtime family friend and New York Mets announcer Fran Healy. Ehrlich began working for the local minor league baseball team, the Winston-Salem Warthogs, in a variety of roles, during his Freshman and Sophomore years.

He took a detour from his plans to work in sports the summer after his Sophomore year when he spent some time interning at Bates Worldwide, one of the biggest advertising agencies in the world, where he worked on the account for the new prescription diabetes drug, Glucovance. During this time, Scott also took classes at New York University, including writing a treatise on the complex baseball labor situation, with proposed solutions for the future.

Scott followed this by taking a semester abroad, studying in London through a program organized by Syracuse University. During this time, Scott became immersed in British history and culture, learning more about the European lifestyle and way of doing things, what worked and what didn’t. Scott, always independent by nature, began traveling extensively and had visited 14 different countries by the time the semester concluded.

Scott returned to Europe and resumed his career in sports, attending the baseball winter meetings in Nashville, TN, and landing a job with the Capital City Bombers in Columbia, SC. Ehrlich worked in a variety of roles for them, including doing some play-by-play for games and realized his love for sports radio. Following 6 months in Columbia and some coursework at the University of South Carolina, Scott returned to Wake Forest where he graduated one semester early with his BA in History.

Post College

After graduating, Scott pursued a career in sports radio, beginning his own show, “Scotty Rollo on the Radio” on WAXY 790AM radio out of Miami, FL. Scott wrote, produced, edited, and hosted this show, which was broadcast throughout southeast Florida, with a signal that would send the show as far as the Bahamas. During the six month run of this program, “Scotty Rollo”, as his radio name was, along with co-host “Philly” Dan Frazier, developed a cult following among sports fans for their hard hitting sportstalk call-in show. The show featured prominent guests throughout the sports world including St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa, Mets Third baseman David Wright, former Florida Marlins Josh Beckett and Miguel Cabrera, basketball star Caron Butler, NHL Hall of Famer Denis Potvin, and goalie Roberto Luongo. Scott’s favorite experience during this stint was getting to meet with Bob Uecker, who starred in his favorite movie “Major League”.

Scott left radio after his station was purchased and began to work for a company founded by his father, DTC Perspectives Inc. There, Scott worked as a marketing associate, putting together conferences for prescription drug marketers to teach them how to better communicate with consumers and gain better return on their investments. Scott continued in this role until he began graduate school at the University of Florida in 2005.

Graduate Studies

During his time at the University of Florida, Scott was one of just three students to pursue a joint JD/MBA degree, taking advantage of his skills and interest in both the legal and business worlds. He also continued to cultivate his contacts in the world of sports, reviving the moribund Entertainment and Law Society and beginning the Sports and Entertainment Business Society. These organizations were designed to connect students to high level employees in the sports world and organize educational site meetings with some of the leading professional sports franchises in the southeast. Scott organized meetings with the CFO and Assistant General Manager of the Tampa Bay Bucaneers, the SVP/General Counsel of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the General Counsel of the Florida Marlins, the President and General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the General Manager/President of the Atlanta Braves, John Schuerholz. Scott also used his skills in conference planning to organize and execute the first event Sports Symposium at the University of Florida, bringing a diverse group of student-athletes, agents, team executives, and coaches to discuss in an open forum all facets of the sports world.

Scott also pursued his love of travel during his time in graduate school, spending the summer after his first year in France learning about International Business law. He used this time to not only become educated in a new area of business and law, as well as the dangers of over-regulation, but to continue his exposure to new cultures, visiting an additional ten countries during that time. Scott also spent a week in Rio De Janeiro in 2007 learning about emerging markets in business. Scott graduated with his joint JD/MBA degree in December, 2008 in just 3.5 years, one semester ahead of schedule.

Scott’s time at the University of Florida set the stage for much of his future as he became involved with two of the great loves of his life, one of which lead directly to the other. Scott, who is still active with the Suwanee-based Southeast Pug Rescue today, adopted his second dog, a black pug named Brutus, as a companion for his first pug, Jobu. After enrolling the two in obedience training, Scott proudly posted a picture of himself with his dogs in their graduation gear on the social networking site, Facebook. Unbeknownst to him, a beautiful graduate student, and pug owner, getting her Master’s of Public Health would soon stumble upon his photo while looking for pugs in Gainesville and contact Scott, who invited her to bring her dog over shortly after for a play session. Six months to the day after the current Alexandra Ehrlich brought her pug, Merlin, to Scott’s home for a dog meet-up, Scott proposed to Alexandra in St. Augustine, Florida. The two were married shortly after graduation at the Rusty Pelican in Biscayne Bay, Florida on January 18, 2009.

Post Graduate School

Just prior to that, Alexandra received an offer for a fellowship at the Center for Disease Control in the summer of 2008, which brought both Alexandra and Scott up to Atlanta. After excelling there and having her position extended, leading first to a contractor position, and then a full-time hiring at the CDC, Scott and Alexandra relocated up to Gwinnett County full-time immediately after returning from their honeymoon.

Scott resumed his career with DTC Perspectives, Inc., this time in the role of Director of Business Development. There, Scott was tasked with making new contacts, meeting potential new clients, and increasing the company’s conference offerings. Within 15 months of beginning his position, Scott had launched a new conference division which resulted in a near six figure profit margin. Scott followed this with the launch of a new division within the company, entitled Marketing Disease Prevention and Awareness, tasked with putting on events and organizing information on communicating ideas to fight some of the most prominently growing health issues today, including childhood obesity and diabetes.

Scott was named President of MDPA in early 2010, while maintaining his role in DTC Perspectives as the Director of Business Development. His events in this space has brought him into contact with United States Congressman such as Tom Price, Joseph Kennedy III and Henry Waxman, Governors such as Tommy Thompson and Howard Dean, high level executives from the CDC, USDA,FDA, and FTC, as well as directors of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign.

Scott Ehrlich Currently

Currently, Scott and his wife Alexandra, who was born in Valencia, Venezuela, are celebrating two major milestones, Scott’s 30th birthday and their third wedding anniversary. They currently have no children, although that is likely to change in the near future. They did adopt another rescue dog, Coco, in April 2010 and have volunteered a great deal of time for the Southeast Pug Rescue, which helps rescue and rehabilitate injured, sick, and abandoned dogs throughout the southeastern United States.

In addition to their charity work and employment, Scott is Vice President of his homeowner’s association and Alexandra is very involved in the social committee. Between them, they have put on a variety of events for the neighborhood’s children and families, managed the budget and problems of almost 260 homes, and vastly increased communication between the neighborhood’s residents and its elected leadership.

Scott has also worked to this end as his role as the Director of Communications for the United Peachtree Corners Civic Association. Scott has expanded the list of Peachtree Corners residents receiving news and updates from this organization by 50% during his time there, as well as creating and maintaining a website to serve as a place where residents could learn more about Peachtree Corners and voice their opinions about the area. Scott put this knowledge to use, with a role on the Peachtree Corners Yes team, where Scott assisted with communications, community outreach, and voter education, that helped Peachtree Corners become Georgia’s newest City. Now, with Scott having staked his reputation on the success of this city, he is interested in serving on the city’s first City Council to make sure the ideas he sold to residents are what is actually executed and the city becomes an example of the success of a small, localized government truly serving their residents.

Between them, Scott and Alexandra have lived on four continents and have visited nearly 40 countries around the world. Scott has visited 38 states and has called six of them home at one time or another. However, neither Scott nor Alexandra have ever felt anywhere was truly home until they relocated to Peachtree Corners. Both of them enjoy the warmth and friendliness of the city’s residents, the abundant shopping and restaurants, the great natural beauty of its parks and rivers, and its fantastic location in metro Atlanta. They eagerly await raising a family here and are happy to have found a place to finally call home and look forward to playing a role in making sure future Peachtree Corners residents feel as truly home here as they do.
