I agree! It's not fair to the child to grow up with the stigma of who her father was. I hope they are financially secure enough to move away and change their names so she never has to pay for his actions. They are not responsible. Obviously, if she was living there, and he at another residence, they were already separated?? Why blame her, let alone her family.

ReplySafety reasons alone should keep scouts from going door to door!!! I'd think the scouts would welcome sales any way they could get them as it goes towards the individual's troop and the organization as a whole. Sounds like they agreed, then when a few complained they backed out of that agreement? It's sad to me.

ReplyI'd think they'll have to post on the front door if they are gonna pass this fee on, right? So if they do, I won't walk through the door. So they think I'm gonna pay for them to have my business? It's already in the markup of their products. This is just stupid. I'm not gonna pay extra. If they want my business, they'll have to not charge.

ReplyI'd keep it to myself, get a financial advisor to help not blow it. I'd pay off our house and my parents house, then call family and friends and ask for help or loans, and those that did, would get a nice chunk, those that didn't wouldn't. (no hard feelings) As soon as people know you've won they "come out of the woodwork". If you made all these decisions before people knew you had the money, you could disperse of it without feeling guilty and questioning who your real friends are. Sounds cynical I know, but is truthful.

ReplyHolidays are becoming so commercialized! I remember as a kid, I'm 55, family came from all over, kids slept on the floor and played continuously, older family sat around and visited for days, then everyone went home. It always started the holiday season out wonderfully!!! Sad how a lot of people don't think about the family part of it anymore, and it's all about shopping!! The old days WERE much better!

ReplyOk, I live in Duluth, I don't "love" Shirley, and I don't consider this a "blemish" but a full blown ZIT!!!! She sold out Duluth for her own gain, and she tried to bring drugs into Gwinnett County to destroy our youth!!! What part do people not get?? This was not a one night, lost her head, had a brain fart kinda thing to forgive!!! This was over a period of time and she CONTINUED to keep doing it until she was caught!!! God only knows what else she would have done to us had she been able. This is way too lax, and it only teaches others, go for the gold and if you get caught, no harm-no foul!! What is this country, county, and city coming too??????

ReplySo if you are a widow, experiencing financial difficulties and have health problems, its OK for you to break the law and sell Duluth citizens under the bus and help bring drugs into Gwinnett County to destroy the youth here???? I personally think her sentence is too lax to begin with.......I doubt she'll ever serve a day!

I agree with Joy. Sounds like she is "saving" to live in the future, rather than "living" her life now!!! I may not be able to retire at 50, but I'll take my family life over hers any day. Also, she needs to understand she could die tomorrow, without having lived and truly enjoyed her life?? I agree most of us could use help in our saving habits, but she takes it to extremes!!!
