Duluth PD Collecting New Baby Items

Donations can vary from clothing and toys to basic necessities like diapers and wipes.

The Duluth Police Department is collecting new, unwrapped baby items to donate to Family Promise of Gwinnett this holiday season. The items can vary from clothing and toys to basic necessities like diapers and wipes. Family Promise of Gwinnett provides 24-hour shelter, meals, transportation, and supportive services, including job training, and employment services, to homeless families. Items should be dropped off at the Duluth Police Department at 3276 Buford Hwy. by Dec. 17 to ensure Christmas delivery.

Ribbon Cut for New Rainbow Village Campus

Duluth campus will bring Rainbow Village families in Duluth and Norcross together.

Ten homeless families with children from Duluth and Norcross will be moving into Rainbow Village’s new campus soon following a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a Family Service Center and two six-unit apartment buildings Friday (April 20). The new facilities are part of a $6-million project being built in three phases. Rainbow Village is a transitional housing community. Most of the residents are women fleeing lives of domestic violence and poverty with their children. Besides a place to live, Rainbow Village’s one- to two-year program offers support services that help the families become self-sufficient. Sponsor A Family:  This option allows an individual, family or group to play Santa for an entire family. Rainbow Village provides the family's wish list and donors have fun shopping and providing presents. Sponsor the Holiday Store: Each year adult residents are given the opportunity to shop at Rainbow Village’s Holiday Store.
