Will There be Enough Chicken Wings for Super Bowl?

Two Duluth restaurants report having plenty of chicken wings on hand for Super Bowl watching. Arena Tavern is hosting Wing Bowl IV, a chicken wings eating competition, the Saturday before the Super Bowl.

As the Super Bowl approaches Sunday (Feb. 3), restaurant operators in Gwinnett have a real flap on their hands. Their meal ticket, chicken wings, is in something of short supply. "Yes, it's true," said Ray Stanjevich, owner/operator of Friends Sports Grill in Dacula. "There is always a chicken wing shortage at this time of year." "Actually, wing prices for the last 12 months have been fairly high, especially in comparison to other years in the recent past," Stanjevich added. "Normally, wing prices start to increase at the beginning of the football season and they peak at Super Bowl. After that, they gradually come down and stabilize for the rest of the year."
