Cyberattacks on U.S. Banks: Are You Worried?

Several major bank websites have been attacked recently. A Middle East group claims responsibility.

Had trouble logging in to your bank website recently? You're not alone. Several media reports have noted recently that several major U.S. banks, such as Wells Fargo, J.P. Morgan Chase, and Bank of America, have been hit with cyberattacks to their websites. Several of these banks have branches in Duluth and Gwinnett County. CNN.com reported that the attackers, who took aim at Bank of America first, went after their targets in sequence. Thursday's victim was PNC's website. Two Duluth Bank Robbery Suspects Arrested

They were pursued and apprehended after they fled the scene in a vehicle and exited I-85 at Pleasantdale Road.

Two suspects have been arrested in the Tuesday (May 15) armed robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank at 3072 Old Norcross Road in Duluth. The arrests were announced by Atlanta Division Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Brian D. Lamkin and Gwinnett Police Chief Charles M. Walters in a FBI press release. At about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, two men entered the bank wearing masks and brandishing at least one semi-auto handgun, according to the release. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, they were observed departing the bank in a maroon Honda Accord and fleeing southbound on Interstate 85. Wells Fargo to Start Charging $3 Debit Card Fee

The bank announced recently that it will charge a $3 monthly fee for activity on its debit cards for accounts opened in five states, including Georgia.

Wells Fargo debit-card customers in Duluth and elsewhere in Georgia soon will be part of a test that will involve a $3 fee. The bank announced recently that it will charge a $3 monthly fee for activity on its debit cards for accounts opened in five states, including Georgia. There are several Wells Fargo Bank locations with Duluth addresses and others in Gwinnett, according to a search of the company's website. According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the bank plans to start charging customers in Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington the "activity" fee if they make any payments, purchases or transactions with a personal or business debit card, check card or ATM card. FBI Taking Over Bank Robbery Investigation

Shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday (June 23) morning a lone gunman entered the Wells Fargo Bank branch on Peachtree Parkway and Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners and demanded money from one of the bank tellers. During the robbery he shot a male employee before making off with an undisclosed amount of money. Cpl. Jake Smith, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department, said that a customer entering the bank heard gunshots, ran out of the building and called police. Gwinnett police said that the suspect is a black male with a light complexion in his early 20s to early 30s in age with a slender build.
