Gwinnett Parks & Recreation Department calendar lists events for families, sweethearts, and senior citizens.
February is filled with Valentine celebrations at parks throughout Gwinnett County. There are Daddy-Daughter Dances in Suwanee and Norcross, a Family Valentine Dance in Lawrenceville, a romantic Valentine Day Dinner Dance for Sweethearts in Lawrenceville. For senior citizens, there is a Valentine Day Breakfast in Lawrenceville and a Valentine Day Tea, also in Lawrenceville. There are so many available pets from which to choose. The Gwinnett County Animal Welfare Center is sponsoring Pet Adoption Days Saturday, Feb. 11; Sunday, Feb. 13; and Tuesday, Feb. 14. Hours are 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday. Starting Saturday through Valentine’s Day, dogs and cats can be adopted for a $30 cash medical fee. What can be more romantic on Valentine's Day than a wedding? Gwinnett County Chief Magistrate George Hutchinson and other local judges will again make it easy for couples to get married on Valentine's Day without the expense of a big wedding. Gwinnett Magistrate Court judges will perform wedding ceremonies or vow renewals at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in Lawrenceville from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, free of charge. A valid marriage license must be obtained before that day for couples getting married. However, couples renewing their wedding vows do not need a copy of their marriage license. Celebrate love and friendship at Duluth’s Fifty and Beyond Valentine’s Day Celebration at Bunten Road Park Saturday, Feb. 11. As part of a 10th anniversary series of celebrations, New Dawn Theater Company in Duluth will be hosting a Valentine Dinner-Dance from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. The ticket price of $20 a person includes dinner catered by Steverino’s, dancing and socializing for couples age 17 and up. Each couple will also get a keepsake photograph.
