I-85 Express Lane Work Planned

Nightly lane closures begin today.

Construction on the I-85 HOT lanes continues this week, with nightly interstate lane closures on both northbound and southbound lanes to install cables and other equipment.  Up to three lanes may be closed, with work focused on the left HOV lanes, which are being converted to HOT lanes. Any triple lane closures will occur after midnight, according to the Georgia DOT.  Northbound lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. and continue overnight until 5 a.m. the next day. Southbound lane closures will begin at 8 p.m., continuing until 5 a.m. the next day. Tuesday, Aug. 23:  Work zone on I-85 North and South from I-285 West to about half a mile north of I-285. Detour Around W. Lawrenceville Road Work

Portions of Duluth street to be closed JUne 13-17. Motorists advised to detour using Ga. Hwy. 120.

Street crews will close portions of West Lawrenceville Street between Hill Street and Irvindale Road in Duluth beginning Monday, June 13, for asphalt repair and paving. The work is expected to be complete by Friday, June 17, according to an announcement by the city. The area will be open to local traffic only. Motorists are advised to use Ga. Hwy. 120 during this construction period.  They should also exercise caution and observe warning and detour signs when driving in the area. GDOT Puts Brakes On Lane Closures for Holiday

Construction-related lane closures suspended through Memorial Day Weekend.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced it is suspending construction-related lane closures during the Memorial Day weekend. Motorists will be able to enjoy the open lanes from 5 a.m. Friday, May 27, until 10 p.m. Monday, May 30. GDOT is advising travelers to exercise caution as heavy holiday traffic is expected.  “Historically, Georgia experiences more than 2,000 crashes resulting in more than a dozen fatalities and more than a thousand injuries during the Memorial Day Weekend,” said Transportation Commissioner Vance. C. Smith Jr. in the announcement. “Enjoy your holiday, but please be very careful while driving.”

Sign Installation for HOT Lanes Continues This Week

No daytime lane closures planned this week on I-85. Lane closures suspended for holiday weekend.

As part of the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-85 to High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes, the Georgia Department of Transportation will continue work to install more than 60 signs along the I-85 corridor this week. The work is taking place overnight. Traffic pacing may occur between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. This week, as weather permits, one or two segments of the HOV or inside lanes along the median wall in both directions will be closed. Northbound lane closures will take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and southbound closures will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Up to three lanes could be closed after midnight. Express Lane Closures This Week on I-85

Continued work to convert HOV lanes to HOT lanes will bring closures Monday through Thursday.

Weather permitting, more express lane closures are coming to I-85 as HOV lanes are changed over to HOT lanes.
