Barefoot Fine Arts Market Fun, Full of Culture

With or without shoes, visitors enjoyed visual and performing arts on Duluth Town Green.

Duluth’s Town Green was an artistic feast for the eyes and ears during the Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Market. The eighth annual event showcased visual and performance arts over the May 5-6 weekend and attracted 15,000 visitors to the city. Sixty juried artists displayed paintings, watercolors, photography, mixed media, ceramics, glass art, sculpture, metal art, jewelry, fiber art, and more under tented booths on the green. Among the unusual items were Dan Finerman’s handcrafted wooden banks made with doors from vintage post office lock boxes. Fine Arts on Duluth Town Green

Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Market offers treats in visual and performing arts Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5.

The Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Market fills the Duluth’s Town Green with treats in visual and performing arts Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6. The event opened Friday night with a “Carnevale” Gala. In its eighth year, the festival will present works by 60 juried visual artists and continual performances on two stages along with children’s activities, adult learning classes, wine tastings, food, and more. Admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Click here for a list of participating artists and here for a performance schedule. Barefoot Opens With 'Carnivale'

Gala occurs Friday. Visual and performing arts festival on Duluth Town Green continues Saturday and Sunday, May 5 & 6.

The Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Market will launch with a “Carnevale” Gala at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, on Duluth’s Town Green. The gala will include entertainment, a silent auction, and food and wine. A special performance by Atlanta’s “Dance Truck” on the Duluth Festival Stage accompanied by Duluth’s “Zephyr Instrumental” will open the festivities. Dance Truck will premiere a “Barefoot Dance” created for the occasion. Zephyr will introduce a new musical work later in the evening. The gala also will feature Pulp Fashion II, a collection of fashions created from repurposed books, magazines and newspapers by Gwinnett Public Library branches.
