Employees help out, and you can, too.
It's been said it's far better to have a neighbor who's near than a brother who's far away, but in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Americans across the nation have proven to be the best neighbors and the strongest of families. This past weekend, AOL and Patch employees took an opportunity to pitch in, packing two tractor trailers worth of food, water and supplies in Dulles, VA, and Baltimore. The donations are headed to Hurricane Sandy ravaged areas in New Jersey and Long Island. Want to join the relief efforts? Newest Patch sites ready to launch.
In just a few hours, local residents will have three additional resources for local news, events and conversation. Gwinnett Patch, Buford Patch and Monroe Patch are slated to launch Thursday, Aug. 23, at 3:00 p.m. The three Patch sites will join Dacula, Duluth, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Loganville, Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Snellville and Suwanee in serving the residents of Gwinnett County. Gwinnett Patch will feature stories of countywide interest and highlight community news from across Gwinnett. Monroe Patch will feature news and events from Monroe and Walton County. Drum roll, please, or maybe a pumpkin toss! The Grand Prize winner of Patch’s Little Pumpkin Halloween Costume Challenge selected by celebrity judge Heidi Klum is Jack Hagan as a headless boy. Jack hails from the Wyckoff, NJ, Patch. Patch will treat Jack to a three-day, two-night trip for two to either New York or Los Angeles that features a meet and greet with Heidi plus a donation of $1,031 to his charity of choice. Nine runners-up will also get a $1,031 donation from Patch to their favorite charity. The finalists included an entry submitted to the Acworth, GA, Patch.
