The Farmhouse Home Decor & Gifts opening in early April in Duluth. An early May opening planned for The Vintage Styled Life.
Two more new businesses are coming to downtown Duluth. Beverly Norris is opening The Farmhouse Home Décor & Gifts in early April at 3107A Main Street. Davina Cates plans to open The Vintage Styled Life in early May around the corner at 3107C Main Street. Both shops lease space in a more than 130-year-old building owned by Mike Burrell at the corner of Main and West Lawrenceville streets. The Farmhouse space contains about 1,000 square feet. The Vintage Styled Life will occupy about 1,500 square feet. When they open this entire historic block in downtown Duluth will be filled with tenants. New Tide Dry Cleaners in Duluth offering one-time 50 percent discount per customer through Aug 30.
The Tide Dry Cleaners that just opened for business at 2774 Buford Hwy. in Duluth is the first in Georgia. It is having a grand opening Aug. 11 and offering a one-time 50 percent discount per customer on dry cleaning and laundry services through the end of August, according to Manager Terrie Richards. The Duluth location will soon be joined by two more Tide Dry Cleaners that are currently under construction on Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell and Old Alabama Road in Roswell, Richards said. New businesses are filling vacant spaces on Main Street in downtown Duluth and elsewhere in the city. Some are starting from scratch by constructing new buildings. Crave Pie Studio plans to open next month in the former Tie Dye 4 Bakery location at 3107B Main Street, which recently closed. A new sign for Crave Pie Studio has just been painted on the window. There’s more stuff happening in downtown Duluth. A “For Rent” sign has appeared on the building formerly occupied by the Sensibly Chic antiques and collectibles shop on Main Street. Owners Shelly Howard and David Cossette have dropped their plans to open a Tavern on Main pub. While developing a business plan for the pub, they said figures indicated there would not be enough seating capacity to make it worthwhile. So the building located at 3131 Main St. is now available for rent. Former Sensibly Chic shop on Main Street to be transformed into pub called 'Tavern on Main.'
More nightlife is coming to Historic Downtown Duluth soon. David Cossette and Shelly Howard plan to turn Sensibly Chic, their antiques and collectibles shop, into a pub called Tavern on Main. They recently closed the shop for renovation. Cossette, who appeared at Monday (Feb. 21) night’s Downtown Development Authority meeting to request the DDA’s assistance in obtaining a low-interest loan for façade improvements, said he and Shelly plan to have their new business open in about three months. The tavern will “fill the need for more entertainment venues downtown,” Duluth Economic Development Manager Chris McGahee said.
