Predictions for Grayson-Shiloh, Parkview-Brookwood, Mill Creek-Norcross, South-Central, and eight other contests.
Well, there may be bigger games in this week, unless you ask fans of Grayson and Shiloh high schools. Our reader-decided Gwinnett Football Game of the Week, matches teams of completely opposite pedigrees — Grayson is the defending state champion, Shiloh hasn't had a winning season since 2003. But here they are, both 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Region 8-AAAAAA, with very real aspirations for reaching the playoffs. Let's be honest, however. Which team is going to win Patch readers' Gwinnett Game of the Week, Dacula at Mill Creek?
Friday, August 31, 2012
Editor's Note: This week's Patch Gwinnett Game of the Week was determined by a weekly readers' poll that posts every Tuesday. This week, readers overwhelmingly chose Dacula vs. Mill Creek. For Mill Creek and Dacula high schools, last football season was a prime example why you can't take early games as make-or-break encounters. Cases in point: Dacula lost its first two games (including a 35-27 decision to Mill Creek), started 3-3, then won its next six games until losing to eventual Class AAAAA runner-up Walton in the state quarterfinals. Mill Creek started 3-0, then lost five of its final seven games to finish 5-5 and out of the playoffs. The neighboring programs begin their respective seasons against each other Friday at Mill Creek in a …
