Duluth Man Charged Again in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Even behind bars, Joseph Memar of Duluth was caught in a second attempt to hire someone to kill Alireza Jebraeilli of Norcross.

Gwinnett County Police say a incarcerated man arrested on murder-for-hire charges is trying to make plans to kill the same Norcross man again. In November, a plain clothes officer met with the suspect, 65-year-old Duluth resident Joseph Memar, during his visitation time, according to a news release from Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.  Memar offered the undercover officer $10,000 to kill his original victim, Alireza Jebraeilli of Norcross. Jebraeilli is his former business partner whom Memar allegedly arranged a hit to kill in June. Memar directed the officer to a source outside the jail for payment, but when detectives approached that source, he refused to participate in any way. Memar has been charged with a second count of …

Waffle House Restroom Incident Escalates

Customer charged with aggravated assault after becoming involved in verbal dispute with another customer inside restaurant and pointing a handgun at his head in the parking lot.

Verbal arguments can result in arrests and charges being filed as evidenced by recent Gwinnett County Police reports of incidents in unincorporated Duluth. Confrontation Over Restroom – A Waffle House customer, who became upset after another customer confronted him about why he had taken so long in the men’s restroom, was arrested after he allegedly threatened his verbal assailant with a handgun in the parking lot. The Aug. 18 incident began at the Waffle House at 1825 Pleasant Hill Road when the customer was asked by the other customer what he had been doing in the restroom with his mother. Police ID Dead Man Found in Technology Park

The Gwinnett County Police Department has released the name of the man discovered in a Peachtree Corners office park last week.

It's been 10 days since the body of a man was found behind an office building on Technology Parkway and today Gwinnett County Police has released the man's identity. The Homicide Unit has positively identified the man found on Monday, Aug. 13 as Ronald Corona, 39, from Pennsylvania, said Cpl. Edwin Ritter, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. Ritter said Corona had been temporarily living in the Gwinnett area since November 2011. Corona had been found early Monday behind an office at 25 Technology Parkway. The Homicide Unit had initially been called to investigate when police discovered several injuries to the victim's head. Update: Missing Young Buford Woman Found

Gwinnett Police return Christine Joyce Park to her parent's home in Buford.

Updated Wednesday, May 16 Gwinnett Police detectives found Christine Joyce Park Monday (May 14) and returned her home in good health. She left home willingly, and no one will face charges in the case, according to Gwinnett Police Cpl. Jake Smith. ~ Gwinnett County Police need the public’s help to find a missing young woman from Buford. A Mattie’s Call has been issued for Christine Joyce Park, according to Gwinnett Police Officer Jeffery Richter. Park's parents reported about 12:45 p.m. Friday (May 11) that she had left home without notifying them. Update: Meadowcreek High Student Dies in Car Crash, Driver Arrested

The collision occurred on Steve Reynolds Boulevard near Beaver Ruin Road in unincorporated Norcross.

Update, May 1, 10:30 a.m. DeJon Wideman was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with vehicular homicide, three counts of serious injury by vehicle, improper lane change and reckless driving, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department docket book. Police Investigating Series of Armed Robberies

"Armed and dangerous" suspect sought in 13 Gwinnett County robberies that began on Nov. 30.

Gwinnett County Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man believed to be responsible for 13 armed robberies within Gwinnett County. According to police, the suspect has primarily targeted cell phone stores but has also robbed two appliance stores, a tobacco shop, and attempted a robbery at a Days Inn. Five of the robberies have occurred within city jurisdictions. Norcross Police, Lawrenceville Police and Lilburn Police are investigating those incidents. The first robbery took place on Nov. 30. Frequently, the suspect visits the target location prior to the robbery posing as a customer. The suspect returns later to commit the armed robbery. GCPD Motorcycle Unit To Conduct School-Bus Detail

Officers will focus on enforcing laws pertaining to travel around school buses

Gwinnett County students return to school Monday, Aug. 8. With the start of school, GCPS buses will once again take to the roadways. Each day, roughly 120,662 students are transported morning and afternoon, making GCPS the second-largest transporter of students in the country. GCPS’ 1,834 buses run 7,534 routes covering more than 130,800 miles each school day. In order to make sure students are safe on and around the buses, motorcycle officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department will be conducting a special detail during the first few weeks of school. GCPD Investigating Suspicious Deaths

Two people were found dead on a service road in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

The Gwinnett County Police Department is currently investigating the deaths of two people. Their bodies were found on a service road just off of New Hope Rd in unincorporated Lawrenceville. According to GCPD's Cpl. Jake Smith, someone called to report a suspicious vehicle at the end of the road, which was blocked by a gate. Upon arrival, investigators found a late model, red Ford F-150 pickup truck. Inside the cab was the body of an adult white male. The body of an adult white female was found on the ground just outside the vehicle. The Medical Examiner transported the bodies to do a thorough autopsy, however any injuries were not immediately apparent according to Smith.  The Ford truck was taken to police headquarters for a complete …

Body Found in Little Mulberry Park Identified

No foul play suspected.

The body found in Little Mulberry Park on June 26 has been identified as that of 29-year-old Aaron R. Bregenzer according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. Bregenzer’s body was found around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening by a man who was hiking in the park with his son. The pair were on a trail within the park when the man spotted a badly decomposed body. "This case is a suspected suicide, however, this will not be confirmed until toxicology results return," said GCPD public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith in a released statement.  "There is no evidence of foul play in this case." The body was the second discovered over the weekend in Dacula. Body Found in Little Mulberry Park

Remains are the second set found this weekend in Dacula.

A man hiking in Little Mulberry Park with his son this weekend made a gruesome discovery. The pair were on a trail within the park Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m. when the man spotted a badly decomposed body. Due to the condition of the remains, investigators were unable to determine the gender of the deceased at the scene. According to a Gwinnett County Police Department press release, cause of death and identity were also not immediately apparent. The Gwinnett Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing. The body was the second discovered over the weekend in Dacula. Saturday evening, a set of skeletal remains were found in a wooded area adjacent to a small field in the 1700 block of Harbins Road.
