The Gwinnett County Police Department held their first ever ceremony to honor the lives of four fallen GCPD officers and the 19,000 officers nationwide who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Next week marks 20 years since the Gwinnett County Police Department lost an officer in the line of duty. Next year will be the 50th anniversary of their first three losses. Chief Charles Walters decided now was the time to honor their lives. Gwinnett County Police are investigating a series of car break-ins that began in October 2012 and have continued into January 2013. Detectives have connected a total of 21 cases to the same suspect, according to Cpl. Jake Smith. Typically the suspect targets vehicles in parks and churches, Smith said. This suspect has used victims’ credit and debit cards at several retail locations following the break-ins. Ritter described him as a black male of average height and build who appears to be in his 30s or 40s. He has been seen using an older model white pickup truck and a four-door passenger car of unknown color. What should you do if you become a victim of credit card fraud? According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, the Electronic and Financial Crimes Unit (EFCU) experiences a large increase in the number of credit card fraud cases during the holiday season. Because stolen credit card information is used across the country and even internationally, police say these cases can be difficult to investigate due to the various jurisdictions involved. The lobby to the Gwinnett County Police Department Headquarters in Lawrenceville reopened to the public Tuesday, Sept. 4, according to an announcement by the department. The lobby closed temporarily to the public on March 19 for a renovation that was recently completed. The Central Precinct in Duluth was used temporarily during this renovation. Anyone requesting records in person starting Tuesday should go to the GCPD Headquarters at 770 Hi Hope Road in Lawrenceville. The “Records Window” at headquarters is accessible to the public between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Gwinnett County Police incident reports are filled with reasons why you need to lock the doors of your car and secure your valuables. That’s especially true in areas where multiple vehicles are parked, like these two entering-auto examples from unincorporated Duluth: --On Aug. 10, two residents at the Gables at Sugarloaf apartment complex on Woodiron Drive reported someone had stolen items from their parked cars. In both cases, there were no signs of forced entry. Gwinnett County Police arrested one of their own Friday. In a release, GCPD announced the arrest of David D. Lowe. The 26 year old Lowe graduated from the police academy earlier this month. Lowe is charged with electronically furnishing obscene material to minors. Investigators are looking into additional charges. GCPD's Special Victims Unit received a tip from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations about explicit video on the website MyYearbook.com, a site designed for use by minors. The site allows users to create a profile and only interact with people in their age range. For example, if a 14 year old creates a profile, they will only be able to interact with users between the age of 13 and 16. The tip from GBI showed that an unknown …

The Gwinnett County Police Department needs the public’s help in locating a missing person. Jeffrey Morris Robertson, 44, a white male, of Duluth was last seen on Feb. 26, according to GCPD Cpl. Jake Smith. Robertson is approximately 5’10” tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He is schizophrenic, Smith said. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a denim jacket in the vicinity of Boggs Road in Duluth. Anyone coming into contact with Robertson is asked to call their local police department.
