Police Officers, Firemen to the Rescue

Gwinnett Chamber awards Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals of Valor for acts of bravery. Duluth Police Department retiree Bill Stevens receives Public Safety Leadership Award.

The Gwinnett Chamber honored public safety professionals for bravery and community service during the annual Valor Awards ceremony. The Gold Medal of Valor, the highest award for bravery and heroism, was presented to Gwinnett County Police Officer Joshua J. Smith. Cpl. Jason Ayers, Officer James Harkins, Officer Candler Horton, Sergeant Brad Ingalls, Officer Tom Novak, and Officer Todd Ramsey with the Gwinnett County Police Department received the Silver Medal of Valor. The Bronze Medal of Valor was earned by Lt. GGC President Tapped to Lead Gwinnett Chamber

Dr. Daniel J. Kaufman, charter president of Georgia Gwinnett College, to assume chamber leadership role July 1.

Dr. Daniel J. Kaufman, charter president of Georgia Gwinnett College, has been named new president and CEO of the 2,700-member Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. The chamber’s board of directors made the announcement March 14. Dr. Kaufman will officially assume leadership of the Duluth-based chamber July 1 after transitioning out of his current position at GGC. Barbara Howard Citizen of the Year

Gwinnett Chamber honors deserving individuals, organizations and companies at its annual dinner in Duluth.

Barbara Howard of Peachtree Corners was honored as Citizen of the Year at the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce’s 65th Annual Dinner. The award honors individuals who have had the greatest impact on the overall quality of life for Gwinnett County in recent years. A sold-out crowd of 1,000 business and community leaders attended the Feb. 1 dinner at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Jim Maran Plans to Retire From Gwinnett Chamber

Chamber President and CEO has led chamber through tough economic times.

Jim Maran plans to retire as president and CEO of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce at the end of this year, according to a press release issued Sept. 7 by the chamber. Gwinnett Chamber Hosting Transportation Forum

State transportation leaders, metro Atlanta business leaders to participate in forum in Duluth.

As the July 31 vote on TSPLOST nears, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce is hosting a State of Transportation Forum on mobility needs from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 19, at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth. The forum will feature an update on Georgia’s mobility needs from state transportation officials followed by a presentation by business leaders on the impact of mobility their bottom-line, according to a press release issued by the chamber. Chamber Surveys Candidates

Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce shares results of candidate surveys with voters. Candidates asked about key business issues.

The Gwinnett Chamber has shared results from surveys of candidates seeking elected offices that represent Gwinnett. The surveys focused on key business issues including economic development and job growth. The survey was sent to local, state and national candidates to assist and inform voters prior to the July 31 Primary, according to a press release announcing availability of the results. Candidates were asked to respond to questions about economic development, education, legal and regulatory reforms, and transportation. The chamber sent the survey to all qualified candidates running for office. Phil Wolfe Scores Hole-in-one

Gwinnett Medical Center President/CEO makes history at Chamber Chairman's Club Golf Tournament.

Gwinnett Medical Center President/CEO Phil Wolfe scored a hole-in-one at the fifth annual Gwinnett Chamber Chairman’s Club “Swing into Spring” golf tournament last week at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth. Wolfe, a Duluth resident, scored his ‘ace’ on the second hole on the Stables course. The tournament hosted nearly 140 golfers, more than 30 sponsors and an additional 50-plus guests for a reception, barbecue and awards ceremony that closed the daylong May 29 tournament at Sugar Loaf Country Club. Chamber Offers Shop In Gwinnett Discount Cards

Shop in Gwinnett provides savings to consumers and benefits local charities.

  Consumers can save and businesses can support local charities through the Shop In Gwinnett discount card program now offered by the Gwinnett Chamber. Cards are distributed primarily through a partnership fundraising program. Charities receive a portion of the proceeds from each card sold. Businesses looking to enroll in the program should contact the Gwinnett Chamber at 770-232-3000.  Consumers can order cards online at www.ShopInGwinnett.com and support the non-profit partner of their choice. Cards cost $20 for one year from the date of issue. Non-profit options include Gwinnett County Public Schools and the American Cancer Society’s Gwinnett Relay for Life.
