Gwinnett Football Chatter: Central's Dynamic Duo

What's up in Gwinnett football? Central's offense impresses, Shiloh-Berkmar is actually an important game, and Norcross-North Gwinnett is Big Game I.

It's early in the season and a lot of things can happen between now and the playoffs, but you've gotta like what Central Gwinnett High School has done with its first two football games. The Black Knights are 2-0, averaging 36 points and have perhaps the county's best passing duo in quarterback Eman Westmoreland and receiver Justin Brownlee, who have combined for 339 yards and four touchdowns. Last week, they combined for 10 completions for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Westmoreland is a multi-talented player, with 569 yards passing, 128 yards rushing and a punting average of 36 yards. What's up in Gwinnett Football: Norcross-Parkview is a Thursday night draw; Jacorey Lewis is Player of the Week; North Gwinnett, Mill Creek are impressive.

I lost count of the number of televised high school football games I came across while channel-surfing during the Labor Day weekend. It seems everyone has gotten in on the action. Fueled by the intense fan interest in college recruiting, high-school ball has emerged from community stadiums on Friday nights to regular programming several times a week.
