Suzanna's Kitchen in Duluth, GA, has issued a recall for about 35,800 pounds of breaded chicken products it processed because they may contain pieces of plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Thursday, Dec. 6. The products subject to recall include: The nuggets and patties marked USDA-inspected were produced on March 15, 2012, and Sept. 6, 2011, for a separate federally inspected establishment and distributed to retail stores nationwide. FreeBird chicken products are organic and antibiotic-free. The problem was discovered as a result of consumer complaints about finding pieces of plastic in the products, according to FSIS. Flying Food Group has issued a recall of some of its products sold at RaceTrac stores across the state of Georgia. According to the Associated Press, the Lawrenceville based food manufacturer announced the recall Saturday and said the potentially deadly bacteria Listeria could be items produced by its plant. No illnesses related to the recall have been reported. Production at the plant has been suspended until an investigation can be completed. The items recalled all have an expiration date of November 30, 2011. They include: the Chicken Quarter Pounder, the Chicken Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes, the Ham Quarter Pounder, the Ham Quarter Pounder with Tomatoes and the American Sub. RaceTrac Petroleum released the following statement in response to the voluntary product recall issued Thursday by Georgia–based supplier Flying Food Group: “RaceTrac considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members of paramount importance. On July 25, 2011, prior to any official announcement, we learned of a pending voluntary product recall of USDA/FDA-regulated food distributed in Georgia by one of our food suppliers, Flying Food Group.
