A federal grand jury in Virginia Thursday (Oct. 25) indicted Indonesian national Katiran Lee with trafficking in counterfeit automotive accessories while living in Duluth and participating in a conspiracy to sell to unsuspecting U.S. consumers more than $3 million worth of counterfeit General Motors (GM) and Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) automotive diagnostic devices and other automotive equipment. The indictment was announced Friday in a press release by U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride of the Eastern District of Virginia and officials with the U.S Department of Justice’s Criminal Division and the FBI. Without a fix that is being put out by the FBI, it is possible that hundreds of thousands of computer users could lose access to the Internet on Monday, July 9. The Huffington Post reported in April that the problem began when international hackers ran an online advertising scam to take control of infected computers. The FBI responded with a safety net using government computers to prevent Internet disruptions. The problem is, that is in the process of being shut down. Once the shutdown is complete, infected computers could lose access to the Internet. D-day is set for Monday. Two suspects have been arrested in the Tuesday (May 15) armed robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank at 3072 Old Norcross Road in Duluth. The arrests were announced by Atlanta Division Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Brian D. Lamkin and Gwinnett Police Chief Charles M. Walters in a FBI press release. At about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, two men entered the bank wearing masks and brandishing at least one semi-auto handgun, according to the release. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, they were observed departing the bank in a maroon Honda Accord and fleeing southbound on Interstate 85. A jury in federal district court in Atlanta returned a guilty verdict Thursday, March 1, against Jose Reyes, Albert Espinal, and Johann Brito, all of Lawrenceville, on charges of armed robbery, drug trafficking, and using a firearm in connection with those offenses, according to an announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. Gwinnett County Police today announced the arrests of two men in connection with a string of armed robberies. Police have charged Stacey Lamont Dooley and Quinton Lamar Booker in connection with three armed robberies in Gwinnett County including two at the Mall of Georgia. Dooley is charged with three counts of armed robbery in Gwinnett and two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Booker is also charged with three counts of armed robbery. Additional charges against Dooley and Booker, as well as other suspects, are under active investigation according to police.
