Win G-Braves First Pitch for Dad

Father’s Day is this coming Sunday – less than a week away. If you’re looking for a special way to honor Dad, stop by the Belk’s department store at Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth or the Mall of Georgia in Buford and register for an opportunity for him to throw out the first pitch at the Gwinnett Braves game on Sunday, June 17. The G-Braves will play the Columbus Clippers at 2:05 p.m. at the Father’s Day game at Coolray Field. Th lucky dad will also receive a replica Gwinnett Braves jersey and a baseball autographed by a G-Braves player. The prize package includes two tickets to the June 17 game. MomsTalk: Our Fathers

What special memories do you have of your father? How do you celebrate Father's Day?

In my childhood, my mother was the one who was a workaholic ,while my father took time to come to school events, take us on vacation, and help with homework. With Father's Day coming Sunday, I think of those times and realize what a blessing that was. In a study done in 2010, 34 percent of households were those with single moms. In these homes, the children do not know their fathers very well, if at all. So as Father's Day approaches, there are a few traditions that will be upheld. The children will spend the day making homemade crafts to share with all family members who are dads. Then the entire family meets in the evening to give gifts to the fathers and to have dinner.
