Three Nights of Kid Songs Fund Hospital Concerts

Eddie Owen Presents hosts live interactive concerts by the Songs for Kids Foundation May 9, 10 & 11 at the Red Clay Theatre in Duluth.

The Songs for Kids Foundation will present three nights of live interactive concerts at the Red Clay Theatre in Duluth Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 9, 10, and 11. The concerts -- full of great songs for children -- start at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Proceeds benefit the foundation. The non-profit Songs for Kids Foundation, founded in 2007, enriches the lives of children suffering from illness or hardship. The organization brings music to hospitals and special needs camps through concerts, bedside performances, and its Songs for Kids songwriting and recording program. Three Concerts, Student Showcase at RCT

Singer-songwriters appearing Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Student musicians to perform in benefit concert for Duluth Cluster Schools Foundation Sunday.

Red Clay Theatre in Duluth is presenting a full line-up concerts this weekend. The Hannah Thomas Band is appearing Thursday night followed by Peter Bradley Evans Friday night. Singer-songwriters will perform in-the-round Saturday night. Duluth’s Got Talent featuring Duluth students will be presented Sunday afternoon. Just 23 years old, singer-songwriter Hannah Thomas spent 2012 touring on the road entertaining folks with her country rock songs. Hannah has shared the stage with Marshall Chapman, Don Dixon & Marti Jones, Michelle Malone, Amy Ray, Beautiful Small Machines (Bree Sharp & Don DiLego),  Jen Foster, Antigone Rising and others. Border Collies Playing Irish Music at Red Clay Theatre

This weekend's live concert lineup also features Randall Bramblett and Carrie Newcomer.

Duluth’s own Border Collies will be performing Friday, March 22, at the Red Clay Theatre. The band, which originated in Duluth in 1999, enthusiastically plays a unique mix of traditional and contemporary Irish and Scottish tunes and songs. The Border Collies is composed of Duluth residents Michael Robbins on guitars, Caeri Thompson on vocals and penny whistle, and Anna Huthmaker on upright bass and cello along with Kim Barnes of Norcross on fiddle and Howard Williams of Carrollton on mandolin, harmonica and bodhran. RCT Music School Plans Proceeding

Duluth Downtown Development Authority votes to allow Eddie Owen to use $25,000 in funds donated by Duluth Fall Festival to build out Red Clay Theatre's basement for music school.

The Duluth Downtown Development Authority voted Tuesday (March 19) to authorize Eddie Owen to use $25,000 in funds donated by the Duluth Fall Festival to start building out the basement of the Red Clay Theatre for a music school. Owen manages the city-owned music venue and presents regular live music concerts. The DFF funds are deposited in the DDA’s bank account. Owen reported he has received three bids from contractors to do the build-out. The RCT also needs better signage in the front and rear of the building, he said, but the DFF funds would not cover both the improvements to the basement and new signs, Owen said. Veteran Musicians, Irish Tunes and Dance at RCT

The line-up for upcoming live concerts at Red Clay Theatre in Duluth includes Shawn Mullins, Jimmy Webb, the Buddy O'Reilly Band, and the Border Collies.

Atlanta-based Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins will be celebrating his birthday, a bit belatedly, with a bash Thursday and Friday, March 14 and 15, at the Red Clay Theatre in Duluth. Thursday night is sold out, and only a few tickets remain for the Friday concert, according to the Eddie Owens Presents website. Mullins is being joined on stage Thursday by Chuck Cannon and by Michelle Malone Friday. The Buddy O’Reilly Band will present an authentic Irish music concert Saturday afternoon, March 16. The band recreates an intimate home gathering on stage with songs, dancing and banter.
