Gladiators Season Ends in 4-3 Loss to Stingrays

The South Carolina Stingrays win the best of five series 3-games-to-1 in the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The Gwinnett Gladiators dropped their second straight game to the South Carolina Stingrays 4-3 on Sunday (April 8) in double overtime at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. The Gladiators season comes to an end with the loss as the South Carolina Stingrays win the best of five series 3-games-to-1 in the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs. South Carolina broke the scoreless tie on their second power play of the game in the middle stanza. Forward Pierre-Luc O’Brien found Brett Fleming at the point. Fleming sent the puck through traffic and beat the Gladiators netminder Marc Cheverie to give the Stingrays a 1-0 lead at 4:35 into the second period. Gladiators Fall in 4th OT to South Carolina 4-3

South Carolina leads the best of five ECHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinals 2-games-to-1. Game four of the series is scheduled for Sunday at 2:05 p.m.

  After 124:19 of play, the Gwinnett Gladiators dropped a 4-3 decision to the South Carolina Stingrays Friday (April 6) night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth in the fourth overtime. Zach Takir scored the game-winner for the Stingrays at 4:19 of the extra session.  South Carolina leads the best of five ECHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinals 2-games-to-1. Game Four of the Kelly Cup Playoffs is scheduled for Sunday, April 8, at 2:05 p.m. Defenseman Dallas Jackson broke a scoreless tie at 6:39 into the opening period. Jackson picked up a centering feed from Pat Galivan and beat the Stingrays netminder Rob Madore in the upper right corner of the net. Joey Haddad had the other assist. Haddad Leads Glads to 3-2 Win in Playoffs Game Two

Kelly Cup Playoffs move to Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth Friday at 7:05 p.m.

Joey Haddad picked up two third-period goals, lifting the Gwinnett Gladiators to a dramatic 3-2 win in Game Two of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series Wednesday (April 4) night with the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum. The victory evens the best-of-five series at 1-1 with Games Three, Four, and Five coming to the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Trailing 2-1 with time running out in the third Gwinnett battled back to tie. Forward Andy Brandt took a shot that deflected through traffic to the near post where Haddad was waiting, as he deflected the puck past Rays goaltender Daren Machesney to even the score at 2-2 at the 11:18 mark of the third. Gladiators Shut Out in Game One of Playoffs

  For the first time all season the Gwinnett Gladiators were shut out, dropping Game One of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals to the South Carolina Stingrays 3-0 at North Charleston Coliseum Tuesday (April 3). Daren Machesney made 20 saves, and the Rays took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Forward Greg Stewart led the way for the Rays with two goals, while Pierre-Luc O’Brien chipped in two assists. Game Two of the Kelly Cup Playoffs is scheduled Wednesday (April 4) at 7:05 p.m. at North Charleston Coliseum, while the Gladiators return home for Game Three Friday (April 6) at 7:05 p.m. at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Gladiators Face Stingrays in Playoffs

First two games in Kelly Cup Playoffs opening round are away. Gwinnett will host last three games, if necessary, at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Gwinnett Gladiators start the opening round of the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs on Tuesday, April 3. Gwinnett will play the South Carolina Stingrays in the best-of-five ECHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The first two games are away. Gwinnett will host the last three games of the best-of-five series at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth.  Here is the schedule for Gwinnett vs. South Carolina: Note the 7:05 p.m. start time on Friday, April 6, and the 2:05 p.m. start time on Easter Sunday, April 8. Gwinnett Gladiators Lose to Florida Everblades 5-2

Loss to Everblades Saturday by Gladiators ends regular 2011-12 season, but Gwinnett team headed to Kelly Cup Playoffs Tuesday.

  The Gwinnett Gladiators (41-20-7-4) dropped a 5-2 decision to the Florida Everblades (39-26-2-5) on Saturday (March 31) night at the Germain Arena in Estero, FL, in the regular season finale of the 2011-12 season. Gwinnett opens the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs on the road on Tuesday (April 3) night. For the second straight night, the Florida Everblades jumped out to 2-0 lead on the Gladiators with a pair of goals 35 seconds apart late in the first period.   Leigh Salters finished a 4-on-2 break slipping the puck past Gwinnett netminder Ryan Zapolski with 2:49 left in the period for the first marker. Gwinnett Gladiators Fall to Florida Everblades 5-3

With the Gladiators loss coupled with a win by the Elmira Jackals, the Gwinnett team slipped into second place in ECHL Eastern Conference.

  The Gwinnett Gladiators (41-19-7-4) dropped a 5-3 decision to the Florida Everblades (38-26-2-5) on Friday (March 30) night at the Germain Arena in Estero, FL. Gwinnett couldn't overcome a 2-0 first period deficit in the loss.  With the Gladiators losscoupled with a win by the Elmira Jackals, the Gladiators slipped into second place in the ECHL's Eastern Conference. Florida took a 2-0 lead on the Gladiators through the first 20 minutes with a pair of goals eight minutes apart in the period. Cederic Lalonde-McNicholl jammed the puck past Gladiators netminder Marc Cheverie 5:21 into the first period to open the scoring.  Matt Marquardt and Leigh Salters had the helpers on the goal for the Everblades. Gladiators Clinch Division Title With Shutout

With 2-0 Win Over Florida Everblades, the Gladiators can finish no lower than second in the Eastern Conference heading into the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The Gwinnett Gladiators got a 30 save performance from goaltender Marc Cheverie in a 2-0 shutout win over the Florida Everblades on Wednesday (March 28) night at the Germain Arena in Estero, FL. Gwinnett clinched the South Division title with the victory over the Everblades. With the win, the Gladiators can finish no lower than second in the Eastern Conference heading into the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Cody Brookwell broke a scoreless tie 4:26 into the second period. Brookwell notched his 4th goal of the season as he found a loose puck in the slot and flipped it past Everblades netminder John Muse for the goal. Gladiators Clinch Playoff Berth in Win Over Greenville

Gwinnett jumped four points ahead of Greenville in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Gwinnett Gladiators clinched a playoff berth with a 4-3 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors Saturday (March 17) night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. The Gladiators came back from a 2-0 deficit in the second period with four straight goals for the win. Gwinnett jumped four points ahead of Greenville in the Eastern Conference standings as the Gladiators have notched 87 points on the season. The Gladiators have now qualified for the post season in seven of nine seasons in Gwinnett. The Road Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the fist period with two consecutive markers. Forward Brandon Wong opened the scoring of the game with a backhander that beat Gladiators netminder Marc Cheverie at 2:53 into the period. The second goal …

Gladiators Still in First Despite 6-3 Loss to Cincinnati

  With three goals, the Cyclones forward Mathieu Aubin led Cincinnati to a 6-3 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators Friday (March 16) night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Rookie forward Jacob Drewiske scored his first professional goal for Gwinnett in the loss.  Gwinnett remains in first place in the ECHL’s Eastern Conference with 85 points. The Cyclones took a 2-0 lead early in the fist period with two consecutive markers. The first goal came from forward Jonathan Hazen at 5:52. Cincinnati’s leading scorer Aubin danced through the Gladiators defense to beat netminder Ryan Zapolski over the shoulder for an unassisted goal at 7:11 to give them their second goal.  Forward Tyler Murovich fired the puck past the Cyclones goaltender …
