The Gwinnett Gladiators dropped their second straight game to the South Carolina Stingrays 4-3 on Sunday (April 8) in double overtime at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. The Gladiators season comes to an end with the loss as the South Carolina Stingrays win the best of five series 3-games-to-1 in the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs. South Carolina broke the scoreless tie on their second power play of the game in the middle stanza. Forward Pierre-Luc O’Brien found Brett Fleming at the point. Fleming sent the puck through traffic and beat the Gladiators netminder Marc Cheverie to give the Stingrays a 1-0 lead at 4:35 into the second period. Joey Haddad picked up two third-period goals, lifting the Gwinnett Gladiators to a dramatic 3-2 win in Game Two of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series Wednesday (April 4) night with the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum. The victory evens the best-of-five series at 1-1 with Games Three, Four, and Five coming to the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. The Gladiators came back from a 2-0 deficit in the second period with four straight goals for the win.
