Duluth Civitan Club Shares Proceeds From Event

Four charity beneficiaries each received $1,185 from ticket sales to the January State of the City Address sponsored by the city and the club.

Duluth Civitan Club President Terry Crouch presented proceeds from the State of the City Address to the four charity beneficiaries at its April 9 breakfast meeting at J. Christopher’s. The club and the city sponsored the January address by Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris at Gwinnett Center. Rainbow Village, Driving Magic, Annandale Village and Creative Enterprises each received $1,185 representing ticket sale proceeds.

State of City Address to Focus on 'Local Duluth'

Mayor Nancy Harris, accompanied by Shiner, mayor of Duluth’s Chattapoochee Dog Park, have been taking an inventory of what Duluth has to offer its citizens by visiting local businesses, schools, parks, and civic organizations.

Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris has chosen “Local Duluth” as the theme for her upcoming State of the City Address. In preparation for the address, Mayor Harris, accompanied by Shiner, mayor of Duluth’s Chattapoochee Dog Park, have been taking an inventory of what Duluth has to offer its citizens by visiting local businesses, schools, parks, and civic organizations within the city limits. The two mayors have made more than 40 visits, according to Mayor Harris. The city and the Duluth Civitan Club will present the 8th annual State of the City Address Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Gwinnett Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Pkwy. This year’s event will again include a Business Expo. “Shiner,” the mayor of Chattapoochee Dog Park, is helping Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris promote her upcoming State of the City Address. The Duluth Civitan Club will present the 8th annual City of Duluth’s State of the City Address Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at the Gwinnett Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Pkwy. This year’s address has a “Duluth Local” theme and will again include a Business Expo. 'Duluth Apps' Theme of City Address

Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris updates civic, business leaders on State of the City in 2012.

Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris chose “Duluth Apps,” similar to those she uses on her mobile telephone and iPad, as the theme of her 2012 State of the City Address. She described Apps as a way to organize and share information with millions of people. “Today, you are my millions of people,” she told her sold-out audience of 250 at Gwinnett Center Tuesday (Jan. 24). Her Apps addressed city finances, economic growth, neighborhoods, retail, commercial, residential, infrastructure, public safety, health, recreation, the arts, and more. Duluth Mayor To Give City Update on Jan. 24

Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris will deliver a comprehensive update on the city and share her vision of its future Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the Gwinnett Center. The 2012 State of the City Address is presented jointly by the Duluth Civitan Club and the city. An expo showcasing local businesses begins at 11 a.m. A luncheon and the mayor’s speech follows at noon. Individual tickets are available for $25 and tables for eight for $175. Sponsorship opportunities range from $100 to $1,000. The business expo fee is $150. Make reservations by Jan. 20. This is a fantastic event, and is the largest annual fundraiser for the Duluth Civitan Club. We support 5 local charities: Camp Big Heart, Rainbow Village, Annandale Village, Driving Magic and Creative Enterprises. Proceeds go to these five groups.
