Sometimes phone calls and wanted posters just aren't enough to bring our furry friends home when they go missing. In that case, Duluth Patch is here to help. Did you know you can submit an announcement to let the community know and ask for help in bringing your lost pet home. First click the bolded "Announcements" link under the "News" tab at the top of any Patch page. Then click "Add an Announcement" on the right-hand side of the page. From there, enter a title and any additional information you can give about your pet. Make sure you select "Lost and Found" under the "Category" selection choice. To help neighbors better identify your pet, we suggest you also upload photographs by clicking "Upload Photos and Videos." Be sure and leave …

You know about Duluth Patch, which has been online for more than a year now with community news, sports, features, business, pictures, and lots more. However, you may not be aware of other features, such as the ability to post your own announcements including press releases, accomplishments, death notices, government announcements, lost & found, religious occasions, school awards, social notes, sports awards, thank you notes, and volunteer needs. You can also upload photos, logos and art to accompany your announcement. That's right, you can do it yourself. After all, it's your Patch. It's about interactivity as well as community news. No, you're not losing it! Patch looks different today. We did a quick visual nip-and-tuck to the homepage to make it even more user-friendly. And we've moved a couple pieces of furniture. For those keeping score: * We tweaked some words in our navigation bar to save space (e.g., "Traffic & Gas" is now "Commute.") * We moved the weather icon next to the Patch branding so you can find it more quickly! * We moved, well, YOU closer to the top! (Our "shout stream" is now front and center to show all your comments off.) * And of course we prettified a few things. Our readers chose El Porton in Duluth Station shopping center as the top Latin American (Mexican) Restaurant in Duluth in voting this week. Voting in our first contest started Monday (Feb. 27) and concluded Friday (March 2). Next week's category will be the best gym or place to work out. Here were the restaurant choices. Readers could also choose "other," name their favorite restaurant in the comments and tell us why they like eating there. The winner was announced at noon Friday. Each week's winner will receive a certificate from Patch. Here are the results:

Please join us as we launch our inaugual “Best of Patch” contest starting with the Best Latin American Restaurant in Duluth. Here are some of our favorite places, but if we've left one you like off of the list, please let us know in the comments: Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments. We will announce the winner at noon Friday. Each week's winner will receive a certificate from Patch.
