Laurie McClain Wishes Jace Brooks: 'Godspeed!'

The Duluth resident and Suwanee accountant congratulates her opponent Jace Brooks on his GOP Primary victory July 31.

Laurie McClain, who was defeated in Tuesday's Primary election for the Gwinnett BOC District 1 seat, congratulated her opponent Jace Brooks Tuesday on his victory. "Yesterday was the culmination of three years of preparation and dedication to a cause that I thought was crucial to Gwinnett. Although we came up short, I am so proud of my friends, my supporters, and my volunteers for sticking by me through it all," McClain, a Suwanee accountant, said in a Facebook post. McClain got 45.9 percent of the votes cast Tuesday, to 54 percent for Brooks, a former Suwanee City Council member. A total of 12,212 votes were cast in the race.
