Gladiators Still in First Despite 6-3 Loss to Cincinnati

Gladiators play Greenville Road Warriors on St. Patrick's Day in Duluth arena.

  With three goals, the Cyclones forward Mathieu Aubin led Cincinnati to a 6-3 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators Friday (March 16) night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Rookie forward Jacob Drewiske scored his first professional goal for Gwinnett in the loss.  Gwinnett remains in first place in the ECHL’s Eastern Conference with 85 points. The Cyclones took a 2-0 lead early in the fist period with two consecutive markers. The first goal came from forward Jonathan Hazen at 5:52. Cincinnati’s leading scorer Aubin danced through the Gladiators defense to beat netminder Ryan Zapolski over the shoulder for an unassisted goal at 7:11 to give them their second goal.  Forward Tyler Murovich fired the puck past the Cyclones goaltender …

Brandt Leads Gladiators to 7th Straight Win

Gwinnett remains in first place in ECHL Eastern Conference with 85 points after the win.

Andy Brandt led the Gwinnett Gladiators to their seventh straight win as he collected two goals, including the game winner, in a 3-1 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday (March 14) night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Gwinnett (37-17-7-4) remains in first place in the ECHL’s Eastern Conference with 85 points after the win.  Cincinnati came out firing and opened the scoring 7:19 into the first period. Jonathan Hazen danced through the Gladiators defense to beat netminder Marc Cheverie over his glove hand to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead. Gladiators Still in First With Win Over Cyclones

Gwinnett's 2-0 shutout over Cincinnati viewed by crowd of 7,829 at arena in Duluth.

Netminder Ryan Zapolski led the Gwinnett Gladiators to a 2-0 shutout over the Cincinnati Cyclones in front of a roaring Saturday (March 10) night crowd of 7,829 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. Forward David Brownschidle broke a scoreless tie and collected his second goal as a Gladiator late in the first period. At the 18:40 mark, Justin Milo directed the puck to the front of the net where Brownschidle corralled a rebound in the slot and beat Cincinnati netminder Chet Pickard under the leg pad to give Gwinnett a 1-0 lead. Jordan Foreman had the other assist on the marker which was his first point as a Gladiator. Gwinnett took a 2-0 lead on the Cyclones at 12:40 of the second period on Nikita Kashirsky’s 14th goal of the season…

Parker, Zapolski Lead Gladiators to 2-0 Win

Gwinnett win over Cincinnati Cyclones lenghtens its lead atop the South Division and Eastern Conference.

  Wednesday (Feb. 22) night was one to remember for two Gwinnett Gladiators rookies, as Jonathan Parker scored twice and goaltender Ryan Zapolski picked up the first shutout of his pro career to lead the Gladiators to a 2-0 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones at US Bank Arena. Gwinnett (30-14-7-4) furthers its lead atop the South Division and Eastern Conference, while Cincinnati (24-19-1-7) remains eighth in the East. Zapolski made 21 saves between the pipes for his second win since joining the Gladiators, while Panthers prospect Brian Foster turned aside 26 shots for the Cyclones.
