Craigslist Leads to Cops Closing Down Chop Shop
A victim recognized her distinctive wheels for sale online, leading to arrests of suspects and charges.
A woman reported her car had been stripped down at an address in unincorporated Lawrenceville on May 12. Four days later, she called Gwinnett County Police to say she found the distinctive wheels from her 1999 Honda Civic on Craigslist. Detectives were able to link that post to 20-year-old Jimmy Tu. On May 17th, detectives determined Tu, along with two of his friends--19-year-old Trevius Rogers and his cousin Tristan Rogers, 20--were allegedly the ones who stole and stripped the woman's car. Detectives found pieces of the stolen Honda at Tu's Lawrenceville apartment. Police say the Rogers cousins were arrested earlier that day for allegedly breaking into cars.
