Hundreds Attend Johlonda Lindsey Funeral

Family and friends gathered Saturday to pay their respects to the Meadowcreek student who died in a car accident prom weekend.

Hundreds attended the Saturday funeral of Johlonda "FaFa" Larue Lindsey, the Meadowcreek High student who died in a car accident prom weekend. Family, friends, and Meadowcreek faculty and classmates gathered at New Mercies Christian Church in Lilburn on May 5 to pay their respects before the high school junior was finally laid to rest. "It's kind of hard to think anything good can come from this, but she's resting in God's hands," said Jonathan DuBose, who spoke in the service and sang "Just a Prayer Away." Lindsey, 16, died early Sunday morning in a car accident going to an after-prom party with classmates. Update: Meadowcreek High Student Dies in Car Crash, Driver Arrested

The collision occurred on Steve Reynolds Boulevard near Beaver Ruin Road in unincorporated Norcross.

Update, May 1, 10:30 a.m. DeJon Wideman was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with vehicular homicide, three counts of serious injury by vehicle, improper lane change and reckless driving, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department docket book. He was driving the vehicle that contained Johlonda Lindsey, the Meadowcreek student who died. -- Update, April 30, 10:30 p.m. It’s been a tragic week for Norcross students. This is a very unfortunate incident. DeJon is a wonderful and kind young man and my heart and prayers go out to him. You can't get a better kid. My heart also go out to Johlanda's family. I know that DeJon did not mean for this to happen and will forever be sorrowful. He is such a respectful and nice young man and she was such a beautiful girl.
