Strange crime stories in Northeast Georgia, as reported on local Patch sites.
1. There’s got to be a better way to get your roommate to do house chores than how a couple of Johns Creek teens played it out recently. When police responded to a report of a fight at an apartment complex, they found two 19-year-old men — cousins, as a matter of fact — arguing amid suitcases, clothes and computer equipment strewn about the yard. Witnesses say one of the teens tossed the other’s belongings outside while threatening to kill him. 2. In our stupid-criminal department comes the story of an Athens woman who tried to shoplift shoes from an Oconee County Kohl’s by having two children who weren’t hers walk out the door wearing them. And that’s only the beginning. The woman also was charged with giving a false name — the same name …

Strange crime stories in Northeast Georgia, as reported on local Patch sites.
Click on the links below for more details 1. Police said they weren’t sure if it was intentional when an argument at a job site in Norcross resulted in one man hitting the other with the bumper of his truck. Really? The argument stemmed from whose work equipment was whose. The man with the truck got mad and peeled off, clipping the other man in the left leg and knocking him to the ground. 2. A Lawrenceville man, 24, who took police on a high-speed chase near Dacula, told the officer he and his 18-year-old passenger were really trying to get away from someone else. The driver sped off after the officer stopped at what appeared to be a traffic accident between two cars, and reached speeds up to 80 mph before blowing out a tire. The driver …

Strange crime stories in Northeast Georgia, as reported on local Patch sites.
Click on the links before for more details 1. Taking things into his own hands, a Stone Mountain pizza delivery man went after teens who had ordered pizza and wings but refused to pay, even after one of them brandished a gun. The four teens took off running and the delivery man gave chase, grabbing one of the suspects trying to climb over a fence. One of the teens showed the man a handgun and he backed off. Later he chased the group in his car, caught up to them and was told "Bro, you don't want this" while being shown the handgun at one of the suspect's waistline. With the help of the delivery man, DeKalb Police eventually caught up to the suspects. 2. Police found quite an eyeful when they arrived at an Athens-area apartment: a woman …

A roundup of unusual cop stories from Duluth and the area.
Click on the links for more details 1. A Stone Mountain-area man was taken to the cleaners by a bogus dry-cleaning business earlier this month (sorry, we couldn’t resist). The man responded to a special of “11 pieces for only $18.95,” according to a police report. He dropped off the clothes and paid the money, but when he returned to pick up his clothes six days later the building was deserted. 2. Really? Stealing paint? Home improvement must be pretty expensive. A Lawrenceville man was arrested on felony shoplifting charges after he was caught trying to steal several five-gallon cans of paint from a Johns Creek Home Depot. Apparently, he tried to wheel the paint out of the store in one of those shopping wagons when he was stopped by the …

Unusual police stories from Northeast Georgia.
Click on the links below for more details 1. Apparently, Johns Creek has a serial leaker. Cops responded to a report of a man relieving himself behind a restaurant, and when they approached him, they recognized him from similar past incidents. The man told police he didn’t want to “go in his pants.” 2. Athens police arrested a man and a woman for taking their public display of affection way too far. Answering a call about indecent exposure, police found the woman baring her breasts and the man … well … stimulated by what he saw (if you know what we mean). 3. An uncle and his gender-changing nephew were found behind a Peachtree Corners-area business up to some salacious stuff. At first, Gwinnett Police thought they were a woman and a middle…

Unusual police stories from Northeast Georgia.
Click on the links for more info on each story 1. It’s common for someone to blame the traffic for being late to work. But a Lawrenceville woman flipped that around to explain why she had side-swiped another vehicle in a Snellville-area intersection. The woman said she was sitting in a left-turn lane during a red light, then decided she wanted to go straight through the intersection. According to a police report, she punched it when the light turned green, struck the car and continued on her way. Police caught up later and heard this explanation — she was late for work. The woman was arrested and charged with several offenses, including hit-and-run, improper lane change and no proof of insurance. She ended up being really late for work. 2…

Unusual police stories from Northeast Georgia.
Follow the links for more details. 1. Police say revenge was the motive of a Johns Creek man who was arrested for trying to explode a homemade bomb at a business that had fired him the previous day. The thing is, the bomb never detonated. The man worked for a vendor that washed and moved cars at a south Forsyth County auto dealership. Police believe he threw the device at a vehicle early one morning, expecting it to explode on impact. It didn’t. Police used surveillance video to nab him. 2. Watkinsville police were looking to complete the story of the missing leg. A child’s prosthetic leg adorned with stickers of planets was found alongside a road by joggers. Was it thrown out by an unruly child? Left and forgotten on the hood, then fell …
