Congratulations to the Winner of Patch's "Lark Eden" Ticket Contest!

Aurora Theatre Seeks Help After Fire Destroys, Damages Costumes, Props

The Lawrenceville theater stored costumes and sets in a basement beneath shops on the Lawrenceville Square. Volunteers are need to help move salvageable items Wednesday.

Nearly two decades worth of work was lost following a fire on Crogan Street in Lawrenceville March 4.  The Aurora Theatre housed costumes, props and furniture for their plays in a storage space beneath some of the shops on the downtown square. Smoke and water destroyed a majority of the collection. It took 17 years for Aurora to gather the items, valued at about $250,000.  “Let’s say you have a period piece,” said Al Stilo, director of Sales & Marketing at the Aurora Theatre. “You can’t just go get a Revolutionary War costume at Marshall's or Ross. You can’t just go to Walmart and get a monk’s costume.” The Lawrenceville community quickly came to help the theater following the fire. “A couple of people on the square let us take some items …

Win Tickets to See Aurora Theatre's 'Sweet Charity'

Patch is giving away tickets to the Aurora Theatre's first show of its 17th season.

It's a new season for the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville. They're kicking off their 17th season with the Broadway classic "Sweet Charity." And Patch is joining the celebration by giving out four pairs of tickets for the show of your choice the weekend of Aug. 10. Spanish Comedy at Aurora Theatre

The laugh-out-loud production will be in Spanish with English subtitles.

  The Aurora Theatre will feature a Spanish-language production this week called "El Insólito Caso de Miss Piña Colada." As part of the theatre's Teatre del Sol's initiative, "The Preposterous Case of Miss Piña Colada" is a screwball comedy about the mishaps of a poor widow named Ofelia and her family, according to a statement from the theatre company. She enters her daughter, Loreley, into the Miss Piña Colada pageant to be crowned queen. Ofelia believes the win would help her regain some luster in society, so she goes to the extreme to help Loreley win the beauty pageant. Ofelia does everything from pawning items to warding off debt collectors. The Teatro del Sol is a Spanish-language theatre initiative that was founded by Aurora Theatre…
