ArtWorks! Gwinnett to to recognize contributions to the arts at Feb. 25 ceremony in Buford. Duluth art leaders among nominees.
ArtWorks! Gwinnett will recognize contributions to art at the second annual “Fusion ArtWorks! Gwinnett Art Awards” Monday, Feb. 25, at the Buford Theatre and Community Center. The awards celebrate the artists, arts administrators, and citizens who support the arts countywide. Awards will given in more than a dozen categories, and this year’s nominees consist of almost 30 individuals and almost 20 companies and partnerships. Combined, the nominees represent seven municipalities from around Gwinnett. Including Buford, Duluth, Grayson, Lawrenceville, Norcross, Snellville, and Suwanee. Fusion tickets are $100. Artworks! Gwinnett to honor outstanding arts contributions at second annual FUSION Awards ceremony. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 28.
ArtWorks! Gwinnett is seeking nominations to recognize the hard work of artists, arts organizations, arts educators, and corporate supporters of the arts. The non-profit umbrella arts organization serving Gwinnett County will recognize their contributions to the arts at the second annual FUSION: Artworks! Gwinnett Awards on Monday, Feb. 25, at the Buford Theatre and Community Center. Several new awards have been added this year. Nominations may be submitted online here. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. Jan. 28, according to an announcement by Raye Varney, interim executive director of Artworks! Gwinnett. Three Duluth arts supporters were honored at “Fusion: 1st Annual ArtWorks! Gwinnett Awards” for their contributions to the greater Gwinnett community. The Vision Award was presented to artist and arts activist Margaret Parsons Andrews of Duluth. Surrounded by her children and grandchildren, Andrews accepted the award during a standing ovation to celebrate her lifelong commitment to the arts and her vision that resulted in the Hudgens Center for the Arts. Andrews initiated fund-raising for the center. A tree will be planted this spring in the Hudgens Center sculpture garden in Andrews’ honor.
