Wounded Warrior Gifted With Car

Allstate Insurance and Sterling Autobody Centers donate car through Recycled Rides Program.

Allstate Insurance Co. and Sterling Autobody Centers gifted a wounded warrior in need of reliable transportation with a recycled car during a ceremony Friday (Dec. 21) in Duluth. The 2010 Chevrolet Traverse was given to Sgt. Tracy Smith, a member of the Georgia National Guard, through the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides Program. Allstate Insurance and Sterling Autobody Centers have donated more than 40 refurbished automobiles through the NABC Recycled Rides Program this year. The vehicles were restored by technicians at Sterling auto body repair shops. Mayor Nancy Harris participated in the ceremony at the Sterling Autobody Center at 3274 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Duluth. The car was presented to Sgt. Smith by Jonathan …

Labor Day Weekend Driving Safety

Statistics show metro Atlanta is not the safest place to drive at any time.

Duluth drivers, if you're headed through Spaghetti Junction this Labor Day weekend, keep both hands on the wheel. Metro Atlanta drivers are almost 30 percent more likely to get into an accident than the national average, according to a study released by Allstate Insurance. The report ranks Atlanta 161st on its list comparing accident records of the nation's 200 biggest cities. The average Atlanta driver is in an accident every 7.7 years. The city with the best drivers, according to the report, is Sioux Falls, S.D., with an average of 13.8 years between collisions.
