Duluth School Box Is a Can-a-Thon Collection Point

11Alive-TV's 30th annual holiday food drive started at 5 a.m. and continues until 1 p.m. at Duluth drop-off site.

The School Box on Venture Drive in Duluth is serving as a drop-off location for 11Alive-TV’s 30th annual Holiday Can-a-Thon starting at 5 a.m. and continuing through 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. 11Alive and its partners, Publix Super markets and The Salvation Army have again teamed up to raise food to feed the hungry during the holiday season. Food collected during the holiday drive will be given to The Salvation Army. More than 154,000 cans were donated in last year’s Can-a-Thon. Suggested donations include: Pop-Top Cans: These are easier for individuals who do not have stable housing equipped with kitchen utensils. Canned Meats: Canned ham, tuna, corned beef can be the staple of a healthy meal. Canned Fruits: We are often short on these items…

Drop Off Food for 11Alive Holiday Can-a-thon Dec. 2

  The School Box in Duluth will serve as a canned goods collection site for the 29th annual 11Alive Holiday Can-a-thon from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2. Gather up your spare cans of food or stop by the grocery store to buy some to donate. It’s no fun being hungry, especially during the holidays. The Salvation Army is again the beneficiary of the food drive. Canned goods collected during the can-a-thon will be given to hungry individuals and families. Any individual or organization bringing in a minimum of 111 cans of food can register to win round-trip AirTran Airways tickets.
