This school opened in the fall of 1966 and was named for the late B.B. Harris, a longtime educator who was a principal of Duluth schools and a Gwinnett County school superintendent. His daughter Nancy Harris, now the mayor of Duluth, served as principal of B.B. Harris ES from 2003-2006. Dr. Lauri Burton is the current principal. The school's mascot is the Wildcat and its colors are purple and white. B.B. Harris ES is part of Gwinnett County Public Schools.
