The Magic of a Gray Day

Changes are necessary to grow.

Last Sunday afternoon looked like an infrared photograph. Its beauty was apparent in the dim light that covered the entire atmosphere. Even though gray days are not my favorites ones, there was a mystical air in the spectrum of that Sunday.

Reflecting about my goals and expectations for 2012, I saw the metaphor in that griseous afternoon. How many times is our emotional atmosphere gray? I realized that peace is attained when we learn to perceive each day with gratitude.
Although the sun didn’t come out that day, I felt a special magic because of its beauty. I also realized that when I attune myself with nature, I receive its blessings because my internal eyes are able to perceive the miracles that Mother Earth is continuously manifesting for our delight.

Therefore, as I glimpsed that pearly and misty afternoon, I contemplated in the fraction of a second those difficult moments of last year, appreciating its lessons and anticipating that each moment is giving us an opportunity to create the life that we want.

So what do I need to do to create the life I want? I asked Mother Earth as I was indulging in its enchanting and delicate beauty. Instead of hearing the words that would answer my question, I was able to receive the reply in the air. As I observed how nature is continuously changing, I am beginning to understand why changes are so important in our lives.

If we want real growth in this life, changes are imperative. Nothing can ever stay the same, otherwise it becomes stagnant, impeding the room to grow. However, sometimes going through these changes can be threatening and even scary when our faith is not strong enough.

So I asked once again, how do I strengthen my faith? I am now smiling as I am writing down the answer because stubbornness has always been one of my biggest demons to defeat. Let go of your lower self that wants to keep you in fear and deprivation. I felt deep within me a call to embrace changes with courage.

We can’t have faith unless we rely in a higher power than us. For many of us this is God and Jesus Christ, but for others it could be the Universe, Buddha or just Mother Earth. Believing is the key because as human beings we are limited and incapable. Fear becomes the biggest factor when we are trying to figure out things in our own lives because we forget our spiritual essence. However, when we change our perception and learn to see life like an infrared photograph, we could be amazed with the miracles reflected in our inner spectrum.

Changes can bring difficult challenges like thunderstorms and tornadoes, but if we believe that we are much more than just human beings, our spiritual beings will come to our rescue. Therefore, instead of allowing the lower self to possess us and becoming our own victims, we must change our perception and become the observer. It is not so easy because our lower self has been in control for so long that it’s going to fight hard to keep ruling our lives.

By believing we are taking the first step in strengthening the relationship with our inner selves and God. So if we are having a gray day, we have the power to change our mood because even if the sun never comes out, a splendid rainbow could be just around the corner.
