Flood Watch Issued for Gwinnett

Conditions are flood-prone, because of previous heavy rain.

More rain is forecast for Saturday (Dec. 28), and so conditions for flooding are present.

According to the National Weather Service, a flood watch will take effect at 1 p.m. Saturday, and run through Sunday afternoon.

The statement reads in part:

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP IN THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO AND MOVE NORTHEAST ACROSS GEORGIA TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1.5 TO 2.5 INCHES... COMBINED WITH WET SOIL CONDITIONS AND ABOVE NORMAL STREAM-FLOWS MAY CAUSE ADDITIONAL FLOODING ON CREEKS AND RIVERS.

A FEW LOCATIONS REMAIN IN FLOOD FROM THE HEAVY RAIN EARLIER THIS WEEK AND MORE HEAVY RAIN WILL ONLY EXACERBATE THE PROBLEM.
