Health & Fitness

It has been quite a week!

To bring everyone up-to-date I am running for Post 1 of the Duluth City Council.  Many times the first question I am asked is why you would run for city council?  The simplest answer is that I am not happy with the representation I have received.  I never aspired to this role but I believe I can provide better leadership and vision at this critical time for our city.

As I have engaged the citizens and businesses of our town to determine the level of support for my Post 1 candidacy I have come away from the encounters completely overwhelmed and humbled by well wishes and support.  Without exception I have been welcomed to discuss my vision and have been encouraged to continue my quest.  Support for placing my yard signs and banners are an indication, to me, that a change is needed in the leadership of our community.

Now on to what I have been up to this week

·         First - I had to take down all my banners to comply with city ordinances only to put them back up a few days later.  According to the city, banners can only be permitted for 30 days once a quarter.  Since the quarter ended on Monday the 30th of September I would be in violation on Tuesday the 1st of October.  I have now replaced all my banners at the locations where they were previously displayed plus added a few more.

·         Second - My role as the Installation Chairman, “Doors to Homes and Hope”, for Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity saw me working with Great Days of Service/Gwinnett Tech volunteers in downtown Duluth.  Special thanks go to Dr. Newton, of Gwinnett Tech, and his talented students who placed so much effort into the design and installation of the doors.  The project, which will be on display through the month of October, can be seen at the entrance to Town Green off of Main Street.  The doors were designed and painted by the students at Duluth High under the direction of Brooke Adamson.   For more information please see www.gwinnettrestore.org.

Hopefully this next week will be less hectic and I can focus more on the concerns I have received from those I have spoken with.
