Do You Think You Can Sing?

Auditions for 'Duluth Idol' competition scheduled Tuesday, June 12. Finalists to perform at 'No Reason Block Party" June 21 on Duluth Festival Center Stage.

Do you think you can sing? If so, Duluth is calling you to appear on stage. The city’s first “No Reason Block Party” this summer on Thursday, June 21, will feature a “Duluth Idol” competition at 6 p.m. on the Duluth Festival Center Amphitheatre Stage.

Auditions are scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. next Tuesday, June 12, at the Festival Center on the . Auditioning requires singing two minutes of a song of choice before two judges.

Only individual singers, no duos or groups may compete. Finalists selected to perform in the competition will have four minutes to impress a three-judge panel by singing along with an instrument or music track.

The winners will have an opportunity to be “discovered” and perform at an upcoming city-sponsored event. 

Audition and competition judges are music industry professionals. Scoring will be based on talent, appearance, stage presence, and overall performance. No verbal critiques will be given.

The “Duluth Idol” show is free and open to the public, who are invited to bring picnics, blankets and chairs and cheer and clap for their favorite performers. For more information visit www.duluthga.net.

Block parties are scheduled monthly during the summer from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Duluth Town Green. A Beach Party with a performance by "The Woody's" is planned July 19. Duluth City Council members will compete in the second annual Chili Cook-off Aug. 16.
