Become artsy smartsy this summer by taking art classes, workshops and camps at the Hudgens Center for the Arts in Duluth.

Art classes for adults and children and the first of several summer art camps for kids both start the week of June 3

Summer art classes include eight-week long classes in varied media, including handbuilding and wheel-thrown pottery for all levels and ages, acrylic, oil and watercolor painting classes; creative drawing for adults and children; and more. Two pottery classes will be taught in Korean. Art classes will be offered at both day and evening times, and typically meet one day a week for eight weeks.

The Hudgens is also offering four-week summer pottery classes for adults and children this year to better fit around vacations and other activities.

There are several one-day workshops planned for the summer, too. The choices include soap making, lotions making, Precious Metal Clay (PMC) jewelry making, Sgraffito clay carving, and dichroic glass fusing.

Color Wheel summer art camps for children ages 5 to 12 will be offered each week in June. Kids will rotate through three classes every day, including drawing/painting, mixed media and pottery.Β Β 

Summer Pottery camps for children ages 8 to 14 will be offered in July. Kids will have both a handbuilding class and a pottery wheel class every day. The first session of the pottery camps is already full, and other camps are filling up fast.
