Be My (Own) Valentine
Ladies clean out your jewelry boxes and design a new piece from the stones and gold you already own!
This year I decided to be my (own) Valentine and wanted to share the wonderful gift that I gave myself.
Through the years I have been given jewelry that I no longer wear. The gifts from my husband that expresses his love that unfortunately do not express my taste in diamonds and gold. Jewelry that I have inherited from my family and broken gold necklaces and earrings that I wouldn't wear even after repaired. All items of value that I no longer valued or enjoyed wearing that were just sitting in my jewelry box.
My husband wanted to give me a nice ring for our 25th anniversary. I was 21 years old when we married and now that I am 50, the diamond needed to be bigger so I could see it. But reality set in and I just couldn't justify spending the money on something I didn't need given all the jewelry I already owned. Mind you, it didn't dawn on me at the time to use what diamonds and gold I had to redesign a new ring.

I was in Armen and Joseph Jewelers in Duluth at Christmas time purchasing a watch battery when a women was picking up a necklace she made her daughter as a gift using her mother's ring. It turned out beautifully. This gave me the idea to use all of the diamonds I had to make one fabulous ring that I wanted for my anniversary but couldn't bring myself to splurge on.
So after the Christmas hustle and bustle Joseph patiently worked with me to design a beautiful ring using what diamonds I already owned. This was to be the ring of my lifetime. A cluster of diamonds with a bright enough sparkle that my 50 year old eyes could see without corrected vision.
