Viewfinder: Duluth Night With G-Braves

Duluth fans enjoy watching game with family, friends and neighbors, consuming ballpark fare.

Duluth residents came out for Duluth Night With the Gwinnett Braves at Coolray Field Thursday (April 28). Although the G-Braves lost to the Columbus, Ohio, Clippers 2-1, fans enjoyed watching the game with family, friends and neighbors and consuming ballpark fare.

The game ended dramatically with bases loaded for the Gwinnett Braves. As the Duluth fans watched hopefully, a double play sealed the win by the Clippers.

Duluth Public Service Information OfficerΒ Crystal Huntzinger manned a Duluth booth near the entrance collecting food items for the "CAN" Do project and passing out to Β information on the city.Β "We got a good many cans tonight, but I really wish it had been more," said Huntzinger.

The β€œCAN” Do project is an effort by the Gwinnett Municipal Association to fight local community hunger by collecting dry and canned goods to support food co-ops and pantries. Cities throughout the county are participating.

Also representing Duluth was Chocolate Perks General Manager Steve Vastakis, who was conducting a drawing for a basket of chocolates and coffee from the Duluth coffee shop/cafe. B.B. Harris Elementary School student Meredith Eckard sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.
