Carruthers, a four-year varsity player, will be attending classes and playing basketball at Auburn University of Montgomery. She averaged 5.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

“Aerial is a team player who works hard in an out of season,” Pittman said. “She tends to lead others by example and is always a very coachable kid. Aerial has had an impact on this program for four years and will be missed by the coaching staff and her teammates. We are all very proud that her hard work has paid off and that she will get to pursue her dream of playing college basketball at Auburn University of Montgomery.”

Aleexis Lyons, a two-year basketball team member, will be going to Piedmont College. She averaged three rebounds per game.

“Aleexis does not have the stats that one would put in the newspaper but is a player who makes all the hustle plays,” Pittman said. “On our team, she was not asked to score but to get people open with screens, to play tough aggressive defense, to rebound and to do many things that are not on a stat sheet. Aleexis is someone who goes out everyday and does what she is asked to do without complaining, and she does it with 110 percent intensity and enthusiasm. Aleexis will be a great addition to Piedmont’s program because she is coachable and always puts the team first.”

Noah Holt, the third scholarship recipient, is a four-year member of Duluth High School’s inaugural Girls Lacrosse team. She lettered all four years. Holt also will be attending Piedmont College.

“Noah helped to lead the program from an inaugural 3-13 record to two winning seasons and the best mark this year of 9-5-2,” Girls Lacrosse Coach Paul Hennelly said. “Junior year she was selected the team’s Outstanding Offensive Player and was selected to play in the DiVarsity Georgia HS Lacrosse All-Star Game. The senior co-captain, she is among the top three team leaders this season with 26 goals and eight assists. She also is certified as a girls lacrosse official and referees youth games on weekends.”

A cake and soft drink reception followed the ceremony.
