Pitcher Julio Teheran may be the next Gwinnett Braves player to earn a promotion to the big club in Atlanta. He pitched the team to an 8-2 victory Monday over the Syracuse Chiefs at Coolray Field.
Teheran allowed five hits and two runs in eight innings Monday. He is now 7-1 and has allowed just two runs in his last 28 1/3 innings. He made his major-league debut earlier this season before being sent back to Gwinnett.
Stefan Gartrell was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI on Monday for Gwinnett; he leads the G-Braves with 49 RBI on the season.
