Some Masters Golfers to Play in Gwinnett Tourney

Several golfing legends planning to travel from Augusta to Duluth for Greater Gwinnett Championship at TPC Sugarloaf next week.

In Georgia, April always means the Masters golf tournament. And in 2013, there's something of a Gwinnett connection.

Some of the legendary golfers playing in Augusta this week also are scheduled to appear in the Greater Gwinnett Championship at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth the following week.

Former Masters champions Tom Watson and Larry Mize are among the players who reportedly will make the drive from Augusta National to Duluth for the 54-hole Champions Tour event that begins April 19.

Craig Stadler and Mark O'Meara are also on the list of committed players for the GGC tourney who also plan to play in Augusta, the first of the year's four major golf tourneys.

Watson is perhaps the biggest name scheduled for the Sugarloaf event. He has won the Masters twice (1977, 1981) and has a total of eight major tournament victories on the regular PGA Tour.

Also, two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw (1984,1985), is on the list of professionals in the GGC field.

Mize, Stadler and O'Meara also are former Masters champs.

Players must be at least 50 years old to compete in a Champions Tour event, such as the GGC.
