The Gwinnett Braves announced on Monday (Oct. 14) that Brian Snitker will take over as the team's manager.

Snitker comes to the Lawrenceville team from the Atlanta Braves, where he served as third base coach from 2007 up until this past season. He previously managed the minor league Richmond Braves, the predecessor of the G-Braves, in 2006.

He replaces Randy Ready who was the G-Braves manager for just one season. Under Ready, the team finished the 2013 season with the worst record in the league-- 60-84.

Snitker, 57, has been with the Braves franchise since 1977. He played as a catcher for four years and began working as a roving instructor for the Braves in 1981.

In his 17 years as a manager, Snitker has compiled a record of 1,140-1,145 (.499). He lead Advanced-A Myrtle Beach to consecutive Carolina League championships in 1999 and 2000 and was named the Carolina League Manager of the Year for both those seasons.

Snitker is the G-Braves' third manager. He follows Dave Brundage (2009-2012) and Randy Ready (2013).

The G-Braves open their 2014 season on Thursday, April 3 against the Durham Bulls.
