Racquet Club of the South Readies for Tennis Stars

Peachtree Corners tennis facility abuzz with activity preparing for upcoming ATP World Tour event.

The Racquet Club of the South will host some of the world's top professional tennis players next week for the Atlanta Tennis Championships. The ATP World Tour event runs from July 18-24 at the Peachtree Corners venue.

Tennis stars to take to the courts next week include World No. 9 ranked Mardy Fish, the defending ATC champion. And included in the line up of stars is former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam Champion Lleyton Hewitt, World No. 26 John Isner, a UGA alumus, and four-time winner on Tour and former World No. 4 James Blake.

The Peachtree Corners tennis facility has been brimming with activity for the past few weeks as workers set up everything from bleachers to broadcast booths in preparation.

Workers on Thursday were overseeing the final details including installing two huge scoreboards at the stadium court.

On Monday, July 18, the opening night's festivities begin at 6 p.m. and include entertainment by Boris Kodjoe, actor and model who starred in "Soul Food." A former Division I college tennis player, Kodjoe will host the Monday night activities. Nicole Krinsky from Alpharetta will sing the National Anthem, and Sam Crenshaw from WXIA-TV 11 Alive will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
