Medlen Loses in Gwinnett Debut

Charlotte roughs up the former Atlanta Brave as the homestand ends.

Former Atlanta pitcher Kris Medlen was the losing pitcher Saturday in his debut wit the Gwinnett Braves.

Medlen, trying to return to the parent club as a starter, allowed four runs on five hits in 2.1 innings as Charlotte took a 5-2 victory at Coolray Field.

It was the G-Braves' fourth straight loss, and the team now leads Charlotte in the IL South by just a half-game.

Buddy Carlyle and Anthony Varvaro combined for 5.2 innings of scoreless relief for Gwinnett.

Felix Pie extended his multi-game hit streak to four, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. He is hitting .389 in that span.
