Hall of Famers Commit to TPC Sugarloaf Tourney

Larry Nelson, Hale Irwin and Tom Kite and other leading golfers scheduled to play in April professional golf tournament in Duluth.

Hall of Famers Larry Nelson, Hale Irwin and Tom Kite as well as recent winners such as John Cook have committed to play in the PGA Champions Tour event at TPC Sugarloaf in Gwinnett in April, according to an announcement.

Officials of the Greater Gwinnett Championship announced Tuesday (January 29) that 27 of the top 30 players from the Champions Tour 2012 money list have committed for the event, which marks the return of pro golf to Gwinnett after an absence of several years.

The 54-hole tourney in Duluth will be April 19-21. Various events will be held at Sugarloaf during the week leading up to the event.

"Like all my fellow Champions Tour professionals, I am very much looking forward to returning to the Atlanta area for the Greater Gwinnett Championship,” Cook, who joined the Champions Tour in 2007, said in a news release.

“Most of us played at TPC Sugarloaf at some stage during our PGA TOUR days and the fans were always very supportive. We look forward to putting on a great show for them again."

Other recognizable names who have committed to the event include Bernhard Langer, Larry Mize, and Mark Calcavecchia.
