Greater Gwinnett Championship Will Have Strong Masters Flavor

Langer, Couples among 7 Masters participants expected at TPC Sugarloaf.

Seven golfers who competed in the Masters last week in Augusta will be in the field for the Greater Gwinnett Championship this week at TPC Sugarloaf near Duluth.

Included in the $1.8 million Champions Tour event is defending champion Bernhard Langer, who finished tied for eighth at this year’s Masters.

Other Masters participants expected this week: Miguel Angel Jimenez, Fred Couples, Mark O’Meara, Larry Mize, Sandy Lyle and Ben Crenshaw. Jimenez was fourth at the Masters, Couples was tied for 20th.

“We are thrilled to have another strong field at year’s championship,” said Executive Director Stan Hall in a press release. “To be able to showcase professional golf to the Gwinnett and Atlanta communities, coming off the heels of The Masters, will create great buzz and help us make a positive impact on our charities.”

Play in the 54-hole tournament begins Friday, April 18.
