Gladiators Post 8-6 Win Over Trenton Titans

Gwinnett team trailed 4-2 early in the second and 6-4 early in the third but overcame deficits to win.

The Gwinnett Gladiators twice overcame a two-goal deficit to post an 8-6 win over the Trenton Titans on Friday night at the during Pink in the Rink Weekend.

The Gladiators trailed 4-2 early in the second and 6-4 early in the third but the Gladiators were able to overcome to deficits to post the win.

Trenton took a 2-1 lead to the first intermission as Matt Germain was able to get the go-ahead goal for the Titans with 2:53 left in the period. Trenton’s Tyler Hostetter and Gwinnett’s Pat Galivan exchanged goals just nine seconds apart to open the scoring in the game midway through the period.

Gwinnett equalized the game at two goals each just 24 seconds into the second period on Tyler Murovich’s 15th goal of the season. Trenton notched the next two goals, markers by Ryan Hayes and Randy Rowe to take a 4-2 lead over Gwinnett.

The Gladiators would not go away as Bryan Brutlag got the Gladiators within a goal at 9:49 of the second and then Murovich’s second goal of the game tied the contest at 4-4 at 10:34 of the second period. 

Trenton again opened up a two-goal lead on the Gladiators, this time early in the third.  Chris Poli, 2:51 into the period, and then Andy Bohmbach, 4:45 into the third, gave the Titans the two-goal chusion. Again, Trenton could not hold on as the Gladiators rattled off the next four goals for the win.

Andy Brandt got the second comeback going for the Gladiators on the power play at 9:37 of the third. Brandt was able to corral a rebound and punch it past Dave Caruso for the goal.

Corey Fienhage tied the game up at 6-6 at 14:55 of the third, ripping a slap shot past Caruso from the left wing point. Fienhage’s goal came unassisted for Gwinnett.

Pat Galivan’s fifth point of the game and his second goal of the night gave the Gladiators a 7-6 lead over the Titans with 1:45 left in the third period. 

Justin Milo extended the Gladiators lead with his 12th goal of the season into the empty net with 32 second left in the third period to close out the scoring.

Dallas Jackson finished with four assists for Gwinnett in the win. Gwinnett had five players finish with multiple point games in the win while 13 of 16 skates notched a point in the win for the Gladiators.

The Gladiators continue Pink in the Rink Weekend at the Arena at Gwinnett Center Saturday (March 3) night at 7:05 p.m. as they host the South Carolina Stingrays and Sunday (March 4) afternoon at 4:05 p.m. when they play the Trenton Titans.
